CWP, 2 June 2018 Anno Domini

Greetings Sheepdogs,

. . . God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine . . .
Ephesians 3:20

I sent a hand written paper letter to President Trump
asking him to pardon Staff Sergeant Wuterich, U.S. Marine Corps.
Please take a moment to do likewise.
President Trump
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, D.C. 20003
The SSgt. executed orders to immediately counter-attack
whenever attacked.  The orders originated from Lt. Gen. Mattis
(presently Secretary of Defense).  [Then Gen. Mattis allowed
the court martial to go forward instead of quashing it as was
his prerogative and his duty to show loyalty to a subordinate.]
The enemy ran into the civilian houses.  It was the enemy who
were responsible for the civilian casualties.  The prosecution
of a combat Marine for civilian casualties, during a combat
operation, during a war is political correctness taken to a
ridiculous extreme.

***** Mindset *****

Don't go to stupid places.
Don't do stupid things.
Don't hang out with stupid people.
-- John Farnam

For example, don't go to gun-free-zones because all
mass murders occur in gun-free-zones.  Don't send
your children into gun-free-zones.  Don't associate
with people who advocate or vote for gun-free-zones.

Who Dares Wins (motto of the Special Air Service)

Will “Rules and Regulations” Save Us?
What will work without fail, and the only strategy
that has any chance of working, is:  “Individual Security”
Teachers and school officials need to go armed.
Citizens need to go armed. “Security” needs to be thought
of as an intensely, exclusively personal issue.

Hero in OK!

Heads up!
The perpetrator was a repeat offender (as they
all are).  Having worked and lived in the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia and Turkey, it is worthy to note that
they have no concept of a "repeat offender".  Why would
you not execute such a person?  Why would you release
such a person to prey upon the good citizens?  It is
liberal madness in full bloom.

The Five Stages of Skill Development
This has been taught at Front Sight since 1996 when
I started attending there as:
Intentionally Incompetent, those who refuse to get
training for fear of demonstrating their incompetence to others.
Unconsciously Incompetent, those who don't know what they
don't know, because of lack of training or poor training.
Consciously Incompetent, those who know that they need training.
Consciously Competent, those who know what they are
supposed to do, but have to think about everything they
do in order to do it correctly.
Unconsciously Competent, those who have practiced enough to
automatically do everything correctly without conscious thought,
thereby allowing their conscious mind to work on the immediate
problems at hand.

***** Tactics *****

Only those who risk going too far can
possibly find out how far one can go.
-- T.S. Elliot

You Need to Get Serious About Your Everyday Carry
This [knocking someone out] can be done quickly,
spontaneously and without telegraphing.
Just because you own a gun does not mean that you are armed.
As a matter of fact, if you are carrying, especially if you are
“open” carrying, without education of the law or without training,
then you are more of a liability than an asset. Get the proper
training, take the proper classes, and carry legally without
being an “open carry” douchebag.

Audacity wins.

***** Instructors *****

Post by Cornered Cat --
Be prepared to ramp up, or ramp down, the pressure shooters
experience in your classes based on what you see of their
body language and skills as they work. Remember the goal
isn't just to provide pressure-for-pressure's sake, but to
help people learn how to *cope* with pressure so they
become strong and competent shooters regardless of the
stress they might experience. Although it can be fun to
provide interesting challenges, always keep your eye on
the ultimate goal -- to make strong and competent shooters
who can easily cope with anything you throw at them.

***** Pedagogy *****

In teaching, don’t criticize, condemn, or complain
     Claude Warner's comment,
"As Instructors, we’re in the adult learning business.
The firearm is merely the tool that we use to facilitate
the learning."
Excerpt:  Claude Werner often speaks that instructors
would gain a lot more spending a weekend in a Dale Carnegie
course than another shooting class. I’ll say it in my best
Morgan Freeman: “He’s right, you know”.

What Do CDC’s Surveys Say About the Frequency of Defensive Gun Uses?

CDC, in Surveys It Never Bothered Making Public,
Provides More Evidence That Plenty of Americans
Innocently Defend Themselves with Guns

Americans spend 17,600 minutes behind the wheel each year.
That’s 7 full 40 hour work weeks . . .

that started in a vehicle
In 2016 there were 115,000 murders and rapes in America,

President Trump and V.P. Pence at NRA annual meeting in Dallas, TX
The liberal media lied by saying the NRA forbade
their members from carrying guns during the speeches
of the President and Vice President.  The Secret Service
put that restriction on the audience, not the NRA.

Here’s how to be happy in today’s crazy world:
Connect With People: Just being around others isn’t enough.
Join groups that you share something with. You need to be

Connect With Your Intrinsic Values: More “flow” and fewer

***** Miscellany *****

Last weekend the Tennessee Department of Transportation
closed a section of I-40 in the northern part of the loop
around Nashville to make bridge repairs.  No traffic on
on-ramps, off-ramps, or I-40 in both directions.  Skateboard
heaven!  Yes, I am that skater boy.

I just got back from searching for a dead baby in Dickson
County, Tennessee.  There were 400 civilian volunteers and
200 law enforcement volunteers searching for the remains or
evidence in the fields and forest from 0 to 75 feet off of
a dirt road by the perpetrator's house.  My team found a handgun
and some small bones.  The other teams found all kinds of stuff.
Don't know if anyone found anything connected to the victim
of interest.  Lots of volunteers suffered dehydration and
heat exhaustion, even though the support staff did an excellent
job of keeping everyone supplied with ice cold water, fruits, and
lunch.  They even had porta-potties on a trailer that they towed
around with the Chaplain's pickup truck.
If you don't maintain your physical fitness you won't
be helping.  Someone will be calling an ambulance for you.

If you would like the lesson plans for my
NRA Defensive Pistol course, send me an email,
and I'll send you the latest version.  The lesson
plans constantly change as I take courses,
communicate with other instructors,
and stay abreast of best practices.  I have changed
and added a lot from the 2018 Tactical Conference.
