CWP, 1 May 2018 Anno Domini

Greetings Sheepdogs,
Jesus of Nazareth told His disciples, and He
tells you, to keep and bear arms.  And if you don't
have arms, sell your coat and buy arms.  Book of
Luke 22:36.  So, anyone who infringes upon your
right to keep and bear arms is working against God.
Excerpts from Bill Jordan's book "No Second
Place Winner" are interspersed below.
I donated $55 to Miss Kystie's legal defense fund.
https://www.gofundme.com/kystie039s-best-defense
She defended the life of a conservation officer by
shooting and killing the assailant, and is being
sued for her heroic behavior.

Don't do stupid things.
Don't hang out with stupid people.

Interesting that John quotes Admiral Hopper, a computer scientist.
Computer scientists make the best leaders.  There is a bridge on

She gave me a piece of wire the length of which was the distance

Profound misunderstanding of David vs. Goliath
by Malcolm Gladwell

"Nothing he can buy from a life insurance firm takes
the place of his ability to shoot fast and accurately.
. . .
The kind of life insurance he can buy with competent gun
handling ability is obviously much more practical."
-- Bill Jordan

"A competitor in a pistol match, conventional or combat style,
would be thrown off the line for unsportsmanlike conduct if he
tried to take an unfair advantage to himself.  We would all feel
that his actions were deplorable, and that his punishment was
justified.  This is an attitude which much be quickly and firmly
suppressed in mental conditioning for combat.
. . . "
-- Bill Jordan

". . . with enough determination you can win even when you
appear to be losing -- just keep shooting!"

Effects of exercise on your brain

2.  Long lasting effects, change of brain anatomy and physiology.

How much exercise?  30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week.
Excerpt:
"Exercise will protect your brain from incurable diseases."

"If anything instructive has been written on the subject
of gunfighting, not as a game but as a grim reality, it has
remained obscure.  There are probably several reasons for this
omission: among them a natural reluctance to write of the
particulars of such a bloody business, aggravated by a ridiculous
taboo against any suggestion in writing that a handgun might
be used for another purpose than punching neat holes in a
paper target.  A more likely reason for this dearth of material
on the subject is that combat has no rules and no clear-cut
pattern which can be reduced to essentials and set up in
training formula.  There is no manual for gunfighting.
. . .
Each fight is different and the officer must react
differently -- and always correctly -- to each.  These reactions,
even if proven correct by their success, are not always logical
appearing.  At times the right action is 'sensed' against all
logic and the wise man follows his hunch and lives.  Instinct,
born of a terrible desire to survive, takes over; perceptions
are sharpened and the right move is taken because of subconscious
reactions; the result of these abnormally sharpened perceptions."
-- Bill Jordan

"A question often asked of themselves by young officers is,
'How will I comport myself in the face of fire?  Will I stand up
or will I break?'  On the surface this would appear to be a
question which can be answered only if it becomes an actuality.
As a matter of fact the answer can be given with very little
change of error.  Almost invariably a man, provided he does not
have too much time to think, will automatically do what he has
been trained to do.  Again provided that his training has been
thorough and intensive."

The Dichotomy of Speed
http://blog.suarezinternational.com/2018/04/the-dichotomy-of-speed.html
Being deliberate, as opposed to fearful.
     Actually, the statement is,
Slow is smooth.  Smooth is efficient (no wasted motion).  Efficient is fast.

"Before hostilities are opened, never make a threatening
motion without carrying it through.  It may trigger you
opponent's reflexes and you will find yourself left at the gate.
On the other hand, even if he starts first, there is a good chance
that he will hesitate.  You keep a-coming and maybe you can take
advantage of that hesitation and catch up enough to get there
first.  It doesn't pay to give up."
-- Bill Jordan

Sight movie –
"Sight picture" is a misnomer.  You will never get a static picture.
You will always have a moving picture, that is a movie.
Place the top of the front sight on the center of mass of your target
(not the center of mass of the torso, the center of mass of your intended target).
Hard focus on the front sight (see the serrations and scratches on
your front sight).  If you are focused on the front sight, you know
where the pistol is pointed.  If you are focused on the target,
you are not concentrating on the front sight and it will wander
off on you.  You won’t notice it because you are concentrating on
what you’re focused on.  And you won’t hit what you think you
are aiming at.
Perform reverse sight picture drill with a dummy gun.
Aim at the center of the instructor's pupil.  The instructor will
be able to see if you are aligning the sights correctly.

Pistol sights under various lighting conditions
http://www.jwramp.com/news/pistol-sights-under-various-lighting-conditions
Under low light conditions, the light on either side
of your front sight will become very thin or disappear
completely.  So, you won't be able to center the front sight
blade in the rear sight notch.  So, you have to machine out
the rear sight notch to make it wide enough to allow you to
see light on both sides of the front sight.

John Farnam's Wal Mart test --
He only carries guns chambered for ammunition that Wal Mart carries.
Consider this.  If your chambering is so exotic that Wal Mart
does not carry it, how are you going to get ammo during the Zombie
Apocalypse?

Or, maybe I will.  See excerpt below from
Bill Jordan's book "No Second Place Winner".

Training Scars
". . . Well, after the fight someone noted that McKone's
pocket was bulging and politely inquired as to what might be
spoiling the drape of his trousers.  Puzzled, Sam thrust in
an exploring hand.  The pocket was full of fired cases.
During the fight, without realizing he was doing so, McKone,
an old reloader, had saved every empty."

College Senior Stands by Decision to Pose with Gun in Her Waistband

You ever notice that pro-gun conservatives are pretty
and anti-gun liberals are ugly?  I mean objectively.  It
can't be media bias, because most media is liberal anti-gun.
So, you would expect the media to use pictures of the
pretty anti-gunners.
Something fundamental is underlying this phenomenon.

Excerpts:
     A “20/20 hindsight analysis . . . in the peace
of a judge's chambers” is expressly forbidden.
. . .
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals case,
Scott v. Henrich, (39 F3d 912, 914):
"Requiring officers to find and choose the least intrusive
alternative would require them to exercise superhuman judgment.
In the heat of battle with lives potentially in the balance,
an officer would not be able to rely on training and common
sense to decide what would best accomplish his mission."
"Instead, he would need to ascertain the least intrusive
alternative (an inherently subjective determination) and
choose that option and that option only."
"Imposing such a requirement would inevitably induce
tentativeness by officers, and thus deter police from protecting
the public and themselves. It would also entangle the courts in
endless second-guessing of police decisions made under stress
and subject to the exigencies of the moment."
